VREYNIEC

Zat is super. Animation is incredible.

TheBoogley responds:

thanks! I really didn't think or plan out the movements as much this time, though it's probably the first time I've worked to a planned out "storyboard."
ACTION TURNIP RULEZ!!! 8O

Great music

Really like the song, but to be honest, I don't really think your animation works together with it at all... It's rather well done, I'll give you that much. Just not very good.

Wonchop responds:

=(

It is pretty funny

But I think you are behaving childishly and stupid. How can you not get that wikipedia isn't a showcase for "works by aspiring artists" but it is (trying to be) an encyclopedia with entries on stuff worth mentioning! Yes, loads of articles ARE deleted every day and even if I think this cartoon is pretty funny I do simply not think it's big enough to have a Wikipedia entry. The best example to this is probably the fact that you, the creator, is so desperate to have one that you'll actually make a (admittedly pretty funny) movie to try and force wikipedia to keep your article! And why do you want it so bad? Because it is a recognition? Well, if you're forcing people to recognize you what's the point of it?
Wikipedia is not about stuff that "brings a bit of happiness to thousands of people worldwide". Did you not know that Wikipedia is run on no-profit principles, completely ad-free and the only money they have to use for bandwith etc is what users donate to the organization? If every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to have their own entry in Wikipedia because they think their worth it, do you understand what an incredible increase in cost it would be? There must be rules on what can be included, and sometimes you might find them unnecesarily though (not in this case though) but generally it's for the best of Wikipedia! Wikipedia is a wonderful experiment bringing information and power to people who previously had no way of accessing it. I think Wikipedia will truly have an impact on modern history. Please don't fuck around with it just because you feel important. But keep on making good funny animations and maybe one day Fred the Monkey will actually be big enough to warrant an entry. But it's going to take you more than just some egoistical flash campaigning...

JKR responds:

Okay, well first of all, I really couldn't care less if Fred the Monkey is in Wikipedia. I don't really give a crap if anything I do makes it in. As long as the cartoons I do are making people happy, that is A-OK with me.

What I DO have a problem with is the way Wikipedia folks are going about deleting things. You don't tell someone they are "non-notable" just because YOU don't think they are. Sorry, but that doesn't sit well with me. That IS the reason most people give up their dreams. And it just isn't right.

They have no authority to judge people's works themselves without doing any research first. Half of the people who decide whether something is deleted or not are simply saying "Fail" or some other harsh meaningless word, and how would that affect you if you were just starting out? Perhaps it wouldn't but I can tell you with certainty that many people WOULD be devestated by such heartless idiocy.

If Wikipedia is non-profit and ad-free (much like FredtheMonkey.com is) then good for them, but I'll cry no tears if they run out of bandwidth because they have too many entries and are TOO popular. Boo hoo, they get lots of people who use their site? What kind of sense does that make? Sorry, doesn't work for me.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked the cartoon, and sorry we can't agree on this subject. Thanks you very much for taking the time to voice your opinions about Wikipedia to me, because it has been very helpful information, even if I still don't agree. =)

AIR GUITAR! HEAD-BANGING!

This was really great! I laughed out loud, doesn't happen that often! A little critique though; the music was um too midi-ish. Might be hard to find better one's though, or did you perhaps do it yourself? The singing was also kind of off at times, wasn't it? And perhaps my biggest issue, well... I DO like it, but I can't stop thinking it's a few years (!) late. still, keep the good work up. (oh and I voted for you in the 250$ cash thingie).

TmsT responds:

Yes, I did have an instrumental track of BR, but I decided to go with MIDI instead, because it was more "Sega"-sounding - I wanted to go with the original style of the Zero Wing animation. Heh heh. It's hard enough singing the original Queen lyrics, but when I'm asking performers to sing these nonsensical broken-English phrases that they're unfamiliar with... I think they did a good job, considering that. Nobody's perfect...
(Thanks! Even though it probably won't win, your vote still means a lot to me!)

they're too great!

it's not often you stumble across a 15-year old with this kind of incredible talent! and now that I've read the entire comic as well, man it's even better-looking than this (although I prefer the cartoon as a medium)..! you should get one of those WACOM drawing tablets, that would be crazy. Well anyways let me know when you decide what you think about that proposition I mailed you earlier. until then, keep rocking

gene-goldstein responds:

I have one....that's how I draw the characters.

not that bad

ended a bit abruptly though, the sound that is

BritishMoose responds:

Heh, yeah, but it was there for the importnt parts so i don't mind. Anyways, it was circusninjas fault...not mine =P
Thanks for the review =D

which Interpol-song is it?

I want it

If we first of all make a distinction between crappy flash, so-so flash and good flash, this is of course a good flash. other than that, I didn't really like this that much.

zonzo responds:

It's called Slow Hands

a disappointment

What's the difference between a time trial and a NG jam anyway??

Well anyway, I thought this was an NG jam and wrote a large portion on this review on that theme, even mistaking Luis for T0MMY... upon realising my mistake I just deleted half the review, sorry if seems a bit chopped up...

... I must say I was severely disappointed. For once, I think even Luis' movie was flawed and it seemed pretty damn uninspired. this time, my favourite was actually the Afro_Ninja one. which plainly put wasn't that good either. and the first two animations were just jokes, at least by comparison. it feels as they shouldn't have been included at all.

And about the audio, I thought it was horrible. I'm not saying everybody will hate it, but for those of us that do, why torment us by playing it four times? I mean, once I can live with, but being forced to hear that beat over and over again puts you off watching all the movies... I think a better challenge is to have a certain theme rather than a song.

Now you will probably reap some awards with his and for that I congratulate you, even though I've always thought the NG jams (and Time Trials, edit) pretty much are a somewhat cheap way to get a portal award by bundling your work together with others' - I have a hard time seeing squeezy and weirdo9 getting a daily feature based on these animations alone, for example. Luis, on the other hand, could do on his own, but even his animation would probably not be rated as high as them all together are. Well, my five cents.

Luis responds:

Well all i have to say is that your review was honest and to the point and i appreciate that, i dont really care to defend anything because quite frankly i just want to put my contribution to the collab scene to rest and if you liked this one cool if you hated thats fine too, my life goes on just the same.

nice

it was ok, but you've got a bunch of facts wrong plus you only handle American animation. which would have been ok, if you've called the movie "timeline of American animation". and yeah about the mistakes, there is no computer animation in the first Star Wars movie, they used models. Tron (1982) was actually the first film with computer generated image elements. I'd also like to mention "The Beauty and the Beast" as an important movie for furthering the usage of 3D elements in 2D animation. also, there are many things you forget to mention, like why Hanna-Barbara studios grew so monstruously big while Disney shrunk so much since the end of the 50's... there are few things that have been as important to the history of animation as the popularisation of TELEVISION..! those are just some of the things I reacted to, but still, I liked it, the style, the presentation of it. good job

JohnQuinn responds:

star wars did use computer assisted animation. the reason the effects were ahead of their time is because ILM invented computer controlled cameras, allowing the same camera movements to be used over and over, meaning many different models could be layed over each other to give convincing space battles.

yes

your attitude stinks. and why is it that you think people over 18 should work with 3d? I guess over at Disney Studios they've got a whole bunch of teenagers doing the next Lion King for them... and flash is a great medium for reaching loads of people but whatever you don't really understand this kind of grown up talk now do ya, ya cute little rascal. now run and fetch the stick, monkey boy! ... and if you really know how to animate, why don't you put it up at NG? too scary huh? what if people don't like it??? better keep it to yourself, yeah

ghio-james responds:

if i wanted any lip from you i would have ate your mother's pussy
